My Buhurt Transformation – A Story from the HMB Warrior

18 Oct

Every story of starting practicing HMB is unique and exciting. Today we asked our buhurt team buddy Andrew about his journey into the world of a fight.

-Hi Andrew, nice to see you! It seems like I have known you for a decade or so. When did you get into Medieval Combat, and why? Would you please tell Soft Warrior’s readers your story?

-Thanks for inviting me. I’m happy to be interviewed! Well, let me think, in 13 y.o. I guess. I was kind of well-fed, bigger than kids of my age, and fond of medieval staff and fantasy. So when my mum found an announcement “HMB Soft for kids,” she thought it was a perfect match and just signed me in. That’s how I joined the junior HMB Soft club.

-How was it? Did you like training HMB Soft? It’s always hard to begin physical training in any sport.

-Agree! The first three months were the toughest, not just because of increased physical activity; the main reason was that only me and the coach were there. I was the first one to join the club, and no one entered it for three months! It was the late spring, and three months later, others showed up. They were younger than me, but I liked having company.

-Gosh, your experience is so rare in the present days. Our Buhurt Junior Club has lots of teens coming for training each day. You were a Pioneer in Medieval Armored Combat Junior Team! How about competitions and championships? Have you met fighters of your age and won medals?

-Yeah, at the country tournaments, there were much more warriors, and I acquainted with several people I still keep in touch with. But when I participated in the first championship, I failed. Everything was new, and I was too thrilled and timid to show my full potential; that never happened later. From 2017 there were no championships where I haven’t won a medal. We traveled to Lithuania, Check Republic, Belorussia, Russia, and Poland, sometimes our team members got all three awards at once, leaving no chance for other clubs.

-Wow, that’s something! It’s always hard in the beginning, but if you persist, you can build confidence in fighting and become a better fighter. Would you recommend juniors to join historical medieval battle training?

-I’m proud of becoming a part of a huge HMB family and recommend parents not hesitate and give HMB a try! Let your kids become true warriors, find soulmates, master physical strength and spirit, travel the world!

-Thank you, Andrew. Frankly speaking, I’m a huge fan of yours! Wish you and your team more exciting battles to come. See you on the battlefield.
